Merindoc Riesling 2019 - New Release
This Vintage provided excellent growing conditions with sufficient rain late in the season. Here in vintage 2019, cold nights, granite soils and sunny days combined to produce Riesling of intense minerality, purity and refreshing acidity.
The Winemaking
After hand-harvesting in early March with grapes handpicked and sorted into bins to maximise fruit quality, the fruit was whole-bunch pressed to minimise the extraction of coarse tannins. The juice was then cold settled and racked prior to commencement of fermentation in stainless steel. At the completion of the primary fermentation, the wine was lightly fined, filtered and cold-stabilised. The finished wine was bottled under screwcap in September 2019 in order to preserve freshness and fruit vibrancy.
The Vineyard
The fruit for this wine was grown at our Merindoc Vineyard, located at Tooborac in the southern cooler part of the Heathcote wine region, Central Victoria. Our Merindoc vineyard is planted on low fertility ironstone and granite soils, with the rows positioned in an east to west aspect and surrounded by spectacular granite boulders.
